Stargate Worlds is a MMORPG currently in development it is to be based around the cult TV show Stargate SG1, the basis of the show is a team of explorers go through a large circle called the stargate, this transports them to another world. In the SGW MMORPG you will be allowed to play as a good guy or bad guy and choose from a multi-tude of races from the TV programme.

SGW is different from other MMORPG's in the way the combat engine is run, in most current MMO's you basically stand toe to toe with you're enemy and fight it out, however in SGW you will be required to think more tactically by finding cover and flanking your enemies or they will do it to you, if you get caught out in the open it will be much easier to get killed.

The developers of Stargate Worlds have been very tight lipped about alot of features of the game leaving all of us fans etching for more details. As far as we know you will be allowed to create a character in one of the following races: human, asgard, jaffa & Ga'ould, with both Human and Jaffa able to be both good & evil. You will also be able to choose different professions which will relate to a character in the TV series, i.e. the scientist may be similiar to Samantha Carter or Rodney McKay.

Some other notable differences in SGW compared to other MMORPG's is that it won't just be about gun fights, there will be puzzles you have to solve and diplomacy matters. But just like other MMORPG's you will be required to do quests which will be on alot of different worlds.

Alot of people including myself have wondered how they are going to include the Stargate in this MMO, well in an interview with IGN the developers told us that to start with a limited amount of worlds will be open to you and it's upto you to get the gate addresses by completing quests and other tasks.
